Play Report: Produce Resources on a Catan-like Board and Aim for Massive Scores with Balatro-style Combos! The Fun of Combining Both Through Cooking in "Feed the Scorchpot"
Summary
MoravianGames' new PC title "Feed the Scorchpot" is set to release on August 21, 2026. This strategy game combines a Catan-style hexagonal board for producing ingredients with Balatro-esque combo mechanics to achieve enormous scores, as players must serve dishes to a dragon for 20 years. On the board, players gather ingredients, then cook them into dishes, using combo-like selection mechanics reminiscent of Balatro to maximize points. The fusion of these two beloved gameplay styles through the medium of cooking creates a unique synergy between resource management and combo planning. We had the opportunity to play the game before launch, and we'll introduce its fascinating gameplay. The core loop involves producing ingredients on hexagonal tiles, then using them to cook dishes, each with its own score and effects. The cooking process is similar to Balatro's poker hand combinations, where players need to choose ingredient combinations to trigger combos and boost scores. This links resource gathering and cooking strategy tightly, requiring players to plan their layout carefully while making optimal cooking decisions. The dragon also presents various requests, adding challenge and variety. By merging these two popular mechanics, the game offers a fresh and distinctive experience, and should appeal to fans of strategy and puzzle games.
