X Squad Playtest: Which Shady Boss Will I Be Working For Next?

Summary
During the recent ChinaJoy, I had the opportunity to attend a closed-door playtest for X Squad, a three-player co-op PVE action shooter developed by Behaviour Interactive and published by Tencent Games in China. The hands-on experience was impressive, even though the session was brief. As a game built around team coordination, I teamed up with two other media professionals, and we quickly bonded while battling through the demo. The game previously debuted a new trailer at Gamescom, and this playtest offered a closer look at its core mechanics and feel. Developed by Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Dead by Daylight, X Squad carries strong pedigree. In China, it’s published by Tencent Games with STC Game Products as a cooperative partner; overseas, Level Infinite handles publishing with TEAM SHOOTER & CREATIVE. The game is set to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2027, with wishlisting available now. For fans of co-op shooters and PVE experiences, this is definitely a title to watch. Its existence also reflects the growing market demand for high-quality cooperative PVE games, potentially offering players a new option for group play. Although the release date is still a few years away, this playtest already demonstrates the game’s solid foundation. We now look forward to more details on gameplay depth, character classes, and the exact release date.
